710. Natalie Merchant - live in nyc 06.13.99

While I never purchased "Tigerlilly" or "Ophelia" I did see Merchant live. I think she had just had a kid and was basking in her motherhood, and gave a very 'adult' show. Still, she pulled out some 10,000 classics and was worth the experience. This cd is perfect for people who shop at Banana Republic (hey I do).

709. 10,000 Maniacs - our time in eden

For some reason all of the 10,000 stuff sounds a bit too formulaic now. It's probably me. Still this record has great, beautiful moments that are tough to argue with. "Noah's Dove" still sounds great, and you'd be hard pressed to not give in and belt "In your reckless mind, you act as if you've got more lives".

708. 10,000 Maniacs - blind man's zoo

I remember liking this album from the minute I put it on, but upon revisiting it I can't help but feel that it sounds soooo old. The lyrics sound old, the music sounds old, the production sounds old, I even heard the word 'old' in a song. Still, the one thing that keeps me holding onto it is Merchant's voice which has a motherly intuition to it.
